Dáil Éireann díospóireacht -
Thursday, 18 May 1933

Vol. 47 No. 11

Cement Bill, 1933—Financial Resolution. - Public Hospitals Bill, 1933—Money Resolution.

The Dáil went into Committee on Finance.

I move:—

That as regards any Act of the present Session for the granting of powers to enable funds to be raised by means of sweepstakes and drawings of prizes for the benefit of certain classes of institutions and organisations affording social services relating directly or indirectly to the physical or mental health of the people, and to provide for the disposal and application of the funds so raised, and also to make provision for the general improvement and co-ordination of the facilities made available to the public by such institutions and organisations as aforesaid, and to provide for divers matters connected with the matters aforesaid, and to make such amendments of the law as may be necessary, it is expedient to authorise the payment out of moneys to be provided by the Oireachtas of any expenses, being expenses which will be required by such Act to be paid out of moneys provided by the Oireachtas incurred in carrying such Act into execution.

How much money is involved in it?

Surely there ought to be some estimate? There always is.

You had better postpone it.

It is impossible to estimate, with any degree of accuracy, how much money will be involved in this resolution, but there is no reason to anticipate that it will be a sum of any serious magnitude. I think it is only a formality to have a Money Resolution in connection with it at all.

There will be no appreciable charge whatever on State funds. Any expenditure which is undertaken out of State funds will be recoverable.

Resolution put and agreed to.
