Vol. 47 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tax on Outdoor Sports.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state how much revenue has been collected during the last financial year from the Entertainments Tax on the following:—(a) rugby football; (b) association football, and (c) lawn tennis.

The Revenue Accounts are not kept in such a way as to give the information desired by the Deputy.

Can the Minister state when he will be able to give the information?

I think the Deputy must not have heard my answer. I said that the Revenue Accounts are not kept in such a way as to give the information desired by the Deputy.

Well, then, can the Minister say whether the total sum would be available?

It is not possible to say because Entertainments Duty is not collected in such a way as to enable the Commissioners to segregate the various games.

If that is so, how does the Minister make an estimate beforehand?

The estimate is rather a pious expectation than a mathematical calculation.
