Vol. 48 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Edenderry Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he has received and sanctioned the plans and estimates for the provision of a water supply for the town of Edenderry, County Offaly; whether he is aware that over 400 able-bodied men in the area are unable to find work and that home help amounting to £120 per week has been paid out and whether in view of these figures he can indicate the amount of the grant it is intended to allocate for the provision of a water supply scheme for the town referred to.

The plans have now been received and a public inquiry into the merits of the scheme has been fixed for the 21st instant. The allocation of a grant rests with the Minister for Finance. I am not at present in a position to say what amount can be made available.
