Vol. 48 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Claim to Unemployment Benefit.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state why unemployment benefit is not being paid to John Delaney, Abbey Street, Wexford.

Subject to the satisfaction of statutory conditions and freedom from statutory disqualifications Unemployment Insurance Benefit is payable in the proportion of one day's benefit to each unexhausted contribution to the credit of the claimant's account.

John Delaney claimed Unemployment Insurance Benefit on the 5th October, 1932, and at that date he had 104 contributions to the credit of his account with the Unemployment Insurance Fund. He, therefore, received payment of 104 days' benefit, this being the amount of benefit to which he was entitled having regard to the contributions to his credit. Information has been received that Mr. Delaney was formerly engaged in insurable employment for which no Unemployment Insurance contributions were paid, and this matter is at present under investigation.
