Vol. 48 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Emergency Duties and Electric Cycle Lamps.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if electric cycle lamps are manufactured in the Irish Free State, and if he will grant permits to motor and cycle factors in Saorstát Eireann to import these articles, free of emergency duties, and so enable them to meet the requirements of their customers.

Electric cycle lamps are not, so far as I am aware, manufactured in the Irish Free State. In view of the fact that these lamps can be imported free of emergency duty from countries against which the emergency duties do not operate, I am not prepared to recommend the issue of licences covering their free importation.
