Vol. 48 No. 17

Vote 31—Remuneration for Cost of Management of Government Stocks.

I move:

Go ndeontar suim ná raghaidh thar £200 chun slánuithe na suime is gá chun íoctha an Mhuirir a thiocfaidh chun bheith iníoctha i rith na bliana dar críoch an 31adh lá de Mhárta, 1934, chun Luach Saothair ar chostas Bhainistí Stoc Rialtais is le Saorstát Eireann.

That a sum not exceeding £200 be granted to complete the sum necessary to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1934, for the Remuneration for cost of Management of Government Stocks of Saorstát Eireann.

In connection with this Estimate, it originally stood in the public volume of Estimates at £21,000. I should like to point out that, since the presentation of this Estimate to the Dáil, the Governor of the Bank of Ireland, on behalf of the Bank of Ireland, has very kindly offered to aggregate, for the purpose of calculating the remuneration of the Bank of Ireland and the National City Bank for the management of Government stocks, the amounts of the securities registered in the two banks, and to apply to the aggregate figure thus secured the rates of remuneration for unredeemed national debt prescribed in the Bank Act of 1892. As a result of this, the cost on the new rate will be reduced by £7,325 2s. 10d., and the expenditure under the Estimate will be reduced accordingly by that amount.

Vote put and agreed to.
