Vol. 48 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arklow Unemployment Insurance Claim.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that John Brien, St. Bridget's Terrace, Arklow (Serial No. 657), had 16 unemployment stamps to his credit when he made a claim to unemployment insurance benefit on the 11th April, 1933, and if he will state why only ten days' benefit was paid on this claim.

When John Brien claimed Unemployment Benefit on the 26th September, 1932, there were to his credit in the Unemployment Fund an unexhausted balance of 17 contributions and in respect of these he was paid 17 days' benefit, thus exhausting his Benefit rights. On the 11th April last he renewed his claim and, ten additional contributions having been paid for him in the meantime, obtained a further ten days' benefit, again exhausting his credit. He will not be entitled to any further payments of Unemployment Benefit until further contributions have been paid for him.
