Vol. 49 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wool Stocks in Donegal Gaeltacht.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he is aware that large stocks of wool have accumulated in the Donegal Gaeltacht and whether as many of the hand-loom weavers trained by the Department have only sufficient work to keep them employed one week per month he will consider the advisability of using this wool for the manufacture of rugs and blankets for the Army and the requirements of Local Government institutions.

The Minister for Lands and Fisheries is fully aware of the conditions regarding wool stocks in Donegal referred to in the Deputy's question, and is at present investigating the possibilities of the increased use of home-produced wool. The Minister has, with that object in view, sought the co-operation of the Departments concerned.
