Vol. 49 No. 19

Suppression of White Slave Traffic. - International Agreement Approved.

On behalf of the Minister for External Affairs, I move:—

That the Dáil approves of the International Agreement for the Suppression of the White Slave Traffic, signed at Paris on the 18th day of May, 1904, the International Convention for the Suppression of the White Slave Traffic, signed in Paris on the 4th day of May, 1910, and the International Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Women and Children, signed at Geneva on the 30th day of September, 1921, copies of which were laid on the Table of the Dáil on the 11th day of October, 1933, and recommends the Executive Council to take the necessary steps to accede to the said International Conventions.

There were three conventions adopted for the suppression of the white slave traffic. They are of no immediate practical significance in this country but, nevertheless, it is desired that we should give formal support to them.

Question agreed to.
