Vol. 51 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take the business in the following order:—2, 3, 5, 12, 6, 11, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 15 and 16. Nos. 2 and 3 will be taken in their appropriate places; business to be interrupted at 6.30 to take the Workmen's Compensation Bill, 1933, from the Seanad and then to resume in the order I have stated.

On a point of order, Sir, I wish to draw attention to an item under the heading of Papers on the Table of the Dáil. I refer to the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 23) Order, 1934. I should like to ask the Vice-President when this Emergency Order will be laid on the Table of the Dáil?

I cannot give you the exact date, but it will be there very soon. It is being printed.

I do not wish in any way to raise a discussion on the matter, but I would like to point out that there has been an Order in force and that it is in force since last Saturday. Deputies do not know what are the terms of this Emergency Imposition of Duties Order. Presumably it is going to be some time before we are in possession of the facts as to the duty that is at present being levied. I am merely wishing to draw the attention of the Government to the matter and I do not want to raise a discussion on it.

The terms of the Order have been published.

The terms of the Order have been published in skeleton form. The Order is not in extenso. For instance, preferential rates for certain colonies is an item in that Order. What certain colonies are being given preferential rates?

Ordered: That items 2 and 3 be taken in their appropriate places and that the Business on the Order Paper be taken in the following order:—5, 12, 6, 11, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 15 and 16. Business to be interrupted at 6.30 to take the Workmen's Compensation Bill, 1933, from the Seanad.
