Vol. 51 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Volunteer Force in Cahir.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that on Wednesday, April 4th, a parade of the new force took place at Cahir, County Tipperary; that the men were marched into the town and there dismissed; that it is alleged that after dismissal they raised shouts of "Up Dev,""Up Míceál Sheehan" and "To hell with the Blue Shirts" and proceeded to threaten persons on the streets whom they considered to be their political opponents; and whether he will state if he proposes to take any action in the matter and to prevent any further occurrences of this kind.

The allegations referred to by the Deputy have been investigated by me, and I am satisfied that no offensive remarks were made, and that no persons were threatened on the occasion of the Volunteer parade at Cahir.
