Registration of Maternity Homes Bill, 1934—From the Seanad. - In Committee

It is proposed to ask the Committee to agree to the following amendment:—

Section 11, sub-section (1). The sub-section deleted and a new sub-section substituted therefor as follows:—

"(1) Whenever on or after the appointed day a death occurs in a maternity home in respect of which a person is registered in the register kept by a local authority, such person shall give in writing to the chief executive officer of such local authority notice of such death and the cause thereof by delivering or by dispatching by registered post, within 12 hours after such death, to such chief executive officer such notice."

This amendment requires that notice of the death be delivered or dispatched by registered post to the chief executive officer of the local authority within 12 hours after the death occurs.

Agreement with the Seanad amendment reported.

Ordered: That the Seanad be notified accordingly.
