Vol. 53 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Case of Dunmanway Reservist.

asked the Minister for Defence if he can state the reasons why the services were no longer required of Reservist J.J. Burke of Dunmanway, who held the status of sergeant in the National Army and against whose conduct as a soldier no complaint has been adduced.

The answer is in the affirmative.

Can the Minister state the reasons or will he not state the reasons?

That is another question.

I submit that the question is if the Minister would state the reasons.

I have answered that question.

I submit the question has not been answered. I think I am entitled to an answer. The question has been put down in a proper way, and I think we are entitled to the courtesy of a reply.

The Chair has no jurisdiction in that matter.

These questions are put for the purpose of obtaining information on very important matters of public policy. They are put to the Minister in all good faith, and I submit some redress should be allowed if such questions are not answered.
