asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he would state for each county council area the total of the amounts deducted from local taxation grants in respect of deficiencies in the Land Purchase Fund and the Land Bond Fund which were outstanding from the county councils on (1) the 31st March, 1933, and (2) the 31st March, 1934; and if he would state in respect of each county council area the amounts by which the sum outstanding on the 31st March, 1934, had since been reduced by any payments made to the county councils.
Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Deductions from Local Taxation Grants.
As the Deputy is aware, the arrears of annuities in the year ended 31st March, 1933, were funded. An advance of £1,616,000 was voted in March, 1933, as an advance to the Guarantee Fund to enable the local taxation grants for that year to be issued.
As regards the year ended 31st March, 1934, the arrears of annuities in respect of the May-June gale, 1933, were funded, and there were no deductions from local taxation grants in respect of that gale. For the November-December, 1933, gale, the net amounts of grants absorbed in the Guarantee Fund to meet arrears at the 31st January, 1934, will be published in the Official Report. None of these amounts that will hereafter be published has been subsequently reduced by any payments made to the councils.
Following are the amounts deducted:
