Vol. 55 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Mayo Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the cause of the delay by the Irish Land Commission in dividing the lands known as Brookhill Demesne, Lambert Estate, Claremorris, County Mayo.

The Land Commission have decided to acquire from the present owners an area of 214a. 1r 15p. on the Brookhill Demesne. The price of these lands has been fixed and a scheme for their division will be prepared as expeditiously as possible.

Arising out of the answer, I want to ask if the Parliamentary Secretary is aware that cattle have been driven off these lands three or four times? Will the Parliamentary Secretary take steps to make the Land Commission hurry up with the dividing of that land?

I am not aware that there has been cattle driving in the district, but even if that were so that is no reason why the Land Commission should go out of their way in this matter.

Dr. Ryan

Hear, hear.
