Vol. 55 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wexford Building Dispute.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will consider the advisability of intervening in the dispute between the Wexford Corporation and the masons employed on a housing scheme which is resulting in the disemployment of about forty or fifty unskilled labourers and hardship for their dependent families; and whether he is aware that the issue in dispute is one of building in mass concrete or with concrete blocks, and that immediate intervention by a representative of his Department might be able to bring about a settlement that would put the men back at work and enable the building scheme to go ahead.

Having read the explanation given by the Corporation as to the facts of this dispute, I regret I cannot intervene.
