Vol. 56 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Small Dwellings Acquisition Act.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he has before him a representation from the Cork County Council asking him to consider the urgency that exists for amending and putting into operation the Small Dwellings Acquisition Act, and if he intends to bring in an appropriate amending Act on the lines suggested by the Cork County Council.

The reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. I do not propose to introduce legislation for the amendment of the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts on the lines suggested by the Cork County Council, as I am not satisfied that the security proposed would be a sufficient safeguard to the ratepayers. As to the general position, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Deputy T.J. Murphy on the 20th March last.
