Vol. 56 No. 3

Business of the Dáil.

It is proposed to take Items 6 (Pigs and Bacon Bill, 1934) and 7 (Estimates, omitting 52 to 62, inclusive), and 8 (Local Government (Temporary Provisions) (Amendment) Bill). There will be no private business at 12 o'clock. It is proposed to adjourn at 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 7th inst., and to meet on Wednesday, 8th inst., and Thursday, 9th inst., at 5 p.m.

Is it proposed to meet on Friday?

I think so.

The statement has been made that Private Deputies' time will not be allowed to-day.

That Public Business be not interrupted at 12 o'clock.

Is that by agreement?

Why does the Minister say that Private Deputies' time will not be allowed? Surely he ought to propose that it be not allowed? The Minister, so far as I know, does not order the procedure of the House. I want to know if there is agreement between the Whips as to taking Private Deputies' time?

The Government orders the business.

The Government propose the business, and the Dail disposes. We could have a division on this question but I do not want to have it. I merely want procedure to be attended to. The Government does not order the business. That should be understood.

The Deputy has been counting the members of his Party on his fingers.

I shall make a surplus out of a non-existent thing if the Minister likes.
