Vol. 56 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reinstatement Application.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he has received repeated applications from and on behalf of Lewis Moore, Kilabbin, County Leix, for reinstatement in his former holding (Rec. Order No. U/5824); whether he is now prepared to sanction this application or state the reasons for the delay in deferring a decision in this deserving case.

Representations for the acquisition of the holding formerly in the possession of Lewis Moore and his reinstatement therein have been received by the Land Commission and an inspection of the lands was made. The Land Commission, however, are not in a position to take any steps for the acquisition of the holding for this purpose until the mortgagee has established full ownership, and they understand that Lewis Moore, who is still the registered owner, refuses to complete the transfer. As soon as the Land Commission are satisfied that the legal position is clear, they will consider the question of acquiring the lands, having regard to the peculiar circumstances of the case and their powers under the Land Acts. The delay is not on their part.
