Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Notifiable Diseases.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the infectious diseases which are now notifiable and the number of cases of each such disease notified in each of the last five years for which the information is available.

—The infectious diseases now compulsorily notifiable in every district are Smallpox, Cholera, Typhus Fever, Typhoid or Enteric Fever, Relapsing Fever, Continued Fever, Puerperal Fever, Scarlatina or Scarlet Fever, Diphtheria, Membranous Croup, Erysipelas, Acute Primary or Acute Influenzal Pneumonia, Malaria or Dysentery. The following are compulsorily notifiable only in certain districts in which the schedule of notifiable diseases has been extended to include them:—Cerebro-Spinal Fever, Acute Poliomyelitis, Encephalitis Lethargica, Measles, Whooping Cough, Diarrhoeal Diseases, Ophthalmia Neonatorum, Varicella.

A return will be printed in the official report of the cases of infectious disease notified in each of the years 1930 to 1934, inclusive.
