Particulars of the grades and ranks can be obtained from the official publications "Estimates for Public Services" for each year. As the process of unification of approved societies involved extra work for the Department, it was not possible to reduce the staff in 1934-35, and consequently the only saving that was effected in that year was a net sum of £655 due to recoupment by the Unified Society in respect of the services of two officials of the Department who acted as members of the Provisional Committee. It is not possible at this stage to give particulars of the number of staff likely to become redundant in the present financial year, as the full effect of the unification scheme will not be apparent before the end of the year, when it is expected that the winding-up of transactions in respect of the old approved societies will be completed.
