Vol. 58 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: (1) Select Committee on the Demise of certain State Mining Rights—Interim Report; (8) The Imposition of Duties (Confirmation of Orders) Bill, 1935 Motion; (9) Imposition of Duties (Confirmation of Orders) Bill, 1935—Second Stage; and (11) Estimates (1935-36) for Public Services.

In connection with the Insurance Bill, 1934 (Second Stage) we were told twice that it was about to be proceeded with. Then there was an idea that it was going to be deferred. I suggest that the Government should tell the House whether they are going to drop the Bill or go on with it.

It is unlikely that it will be taken this session.

Can we take it that it will be dropped.

Can we get any information as to when it will be taken.

The Minister for Industry and Commerce stated a month ago that it would be circulated before the end of the session.

That may happen. If it is intended to take it this year it may be held up a little longer, in order to have a final look at it. If it is to be taken this session, it will be circulated.

Is the Minister aware there is a great deal of interest taken in this Bill, and that many firms are anxiously waiting to see what is in it. Many works are, I understand, held up because it is not known what will be in the Bill.
