Vol. 59 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral—Answers. - Importation of Rabbit Crates.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is prepared to admit, without licence, empty rabbit crates from across Channel, as the delay in applying for a licence for each consignment of these crates (which are free of duty) may lead to serious loss when dealing with a very perishable commodity like dead rabbits.

Empty rabbit crates are liable to duty and, accordingly, cannot be allowed to be imported free of duty without a licence. Licences are, however, being issued freely with the minimum of delay.
