Vol. 59 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Saggart (County Dublin) Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that in the village of Saggart, County Dublin, owing to the absence of a proper water supply the residents are frequently without suitable drinking water; that the water available is generally unsuitable, and that during the present year there was an outbreak of scarlet fever in the village; and whether he is in a position to indicate the steps he is prepared to take to secure for the village an adequate supply of wholesome water.

No complaints have been received by the Minister in regard to the water supply of this village, and the provision of a satisfactory water supply for the locality is a matter for the Dublin Board of Health, to which body any necessary representations in regard to the matter should be made. The condition of the water supply has no bearing on the incidence of scarlet fever in a district, but it is understood that only one case of scarlet fever was reported from Saggart during the present year.
