Vol. 59 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Flour.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is now in a position to state if the inquiry, undertaken by his Department, for the purpose of ascertaining whether the current prices for flour have been fixed in accordance with the formula set out in the relevant report of the Prices Commission, has concluded or whether he can give an assurance that steps will be taken immediately to secure a reduction in the present price for flour.

The inquiry undertaken for the purpose of ascertaining whether the current prices of flour are in accordance with the formula recommended by the Prices Commission has not yet been completed. It is anticipated that this inquiry will be completed at an early date.

What does the Minister mean by an early date? The report of the Prices Commission was submitted to his Department as far back as July, 1934.

That has nothing to do with it.

What does the Minister mean by an early date? Is it next year or never?

I mean a date that is comparatively early.
