asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when the Irish Land Commission proposes to divide the untenanted lands which have been in their occupation for many years situate at Meelish, Hollymount, County Mayo (Earl of Mayo Estate).
Written Answer. - Division of County Mayo Estate.
It is not clear to what lands the Deputy refers. The only untenanted land undivided in the townland of Mweelis on the Congested Districts Board Estate of the Earl of Mayo consists of 15 acres vacated by migrants, and this area is let to tenants in the same townland on a temporary basis pending final disposal. Possibly the Deputy may refer to tenanted land held in rundale in the townlands of Mweelis and Ballina. The Land Commission are not yet in a position to rearrange these holdings as their local inspectors are fully occupied with schemes for the division of untenanted land acquired under the Land Acts 1923-33, and large holdings on Congested Districts Board Estates. A rearrangement of the rundale holdings will be made as soon as circumstances permit.
