Vol. 60 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Defective Cottages.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that complaints are being made by the occupants of cottages recently erected with grants given by local authorities in rural areas that the roofs are leaking, the walls damp, and, in some cases, cracked, and if he will have inquiries made with a view to preventing a recurrence of the defects complained of.

Complaints from rural areas of the nature referred to by the Deputy have not reached my Department. Primary responsibility for seeing that such houses are constructed with sound materials in accordance with approved specification rests entirely with the local authority concerned.
