Vol. 61 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coal-Cattle Pact.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if as a result of the recent coal-cattle pact the import quota of cattle from the Saorstát to Great Britain has been increased; and, if so, by how much and on what conditions.

I would refer the Deputy to the announcement on this subject from the Government Information Bureau which appeared in the daily newspapers on the 18th February. It is anticipated that the exchange of trade provided for will result in a substantial increase in the number of cattle exported to Great Britain, but it is not possible at this stage to state the precise extent of the increase.

We have no definitely increased quota then?

Dr. Ryan

We have if we buy more coal.
