Vol. 61 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Railway Employees' Superannuation Scheme.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he can state if a superannuation scheme under Section 11 of the Railways Act, 1933, has been prepared and confirmed, and, if so, if before its confirmation the Minister was heard by the Railways Tribunal, and if a superannuation scheme has not yet been confirmed whether a special report to that effect has been made to the Minister, and what were the reasons for the refusal to confirm the scheme.

A superannuation scheme was submitted to the Railways Tribunal by the Great Southern Railways Company in accordance with Section 11 of the Railways Act, 1933. The Railways Tribunal have reported to me that the scheme was not confirmed, as in the opinion of the tribunal it would not meet the reasonable requirements of the employees of the company.
