Vol. 61 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Blind Person's Pension Claim.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether John Martin, of Labasheeda, County Clare, applied for a blind pension in January, 1935, and is still waiting to be examined by a medical officer, and, if so, what is the explanation for this delay.

The application in this case was received by the pension officer in January, 1935, as stated by the Deputy. The appeal against the award by the sub-committee of a blind pension at the rate of 10/- a week was received on the 26th June, 1935, and it is regretted that owing to the occurrence of a vacancy in the medical inspection staff there was some unavoidable delay in dealing with this and some other appeals on claims for blind pensions.

The case of John Martin, Labasheeda, has now been decided and it has been determined that he is entitled to a pension at the maximum rate of 10/- a week as from the 31st January, 1935.
