Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Lands in Counties Kildare and Carlow.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission propose to acquire the estate of Major Alexander, Ballinabranna, Milford, County Carlow, comprising 700 acres, for division amongst local uneconomic holders and landless men.

The question of the acquisition of the estate of Major Alexander is under consideration by the Land Commission, but they are not at present in a position to state what action may be taken in the matter.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission propose to acquire the lands of Mr. James Fagan, at Bluebell, Nass, for division amongst local uneconomic holders.

No estate of the description mentioned in the question can be identified by the Land Commission either as subject of acquisition proceedings as untenanted land or as subject of resumption proceedings.

Arising out of the Parliamentary Secretary's reply, would he say that the Land Commission are unable to identify the estate concerned?

Yes—from the particulars supplied by the Deputy. If the Deputy will supply further particulars, the matter can be inquired into further.

Well, it is a well-known estate in Nass, owned by a man from Canada who has lived there many years.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission propose to acquire the estate at present held by the representatives of the late John Salter, Tobinstown, Rathvilly, County Carlow, for division among local uneconomic holders and landless men.

The Land Commission have under consideration the question of the resumption for local division of a holding of some 90 acres in the townland of Ballybit Big, in the ownership of the representatives of the late John Salter.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission propose to acquire the lands held by William Hopkins, Ballybrit, Rathvilly, County Carlow, for division among local uneconomic holders and landless men.

Particulars have been obtained by the Land Commission in connection with the estate of William Hopkins, and the question of acquisition of the lands will be considered in due course.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission propose to acquire the Weldon estate at Kilmoroney, Athy, for division amongst local uneconomic holders and landless men.

The Land Commission have under consideration the question of acquisition of the estate of Sir A.C. Weldon, but they are not at present in a position to state what action may be taken in the matter.
