Vol. 63 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rathgormack (County Waterford) Telephone Service.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is aware that there is no telephone service to Rathgormack (County Waterford) Gárda Station or Rathgormack village: that the nearest point at which such a service is available is Carrick-on-Suir, about five miles away, and if he will have inquiries made with a view to having the telephone service extended to this important station.

I am aware that a telephone service has not been provided at Rathgormack Gárda Síochána Station. It is estimated that the capital charge for providing an exchange line to this station would be £260, and the annual rental £24, and it has been considered that, having regard to these figures, an installation would not be justifiable. If circumstances alter so as to permit installation at a lower cost the matter will be reconsidered.
