Vol. 65 No. 7

Workmen's Compensation for Occupational Diseases.

I move:—

"That Dáil Eireann approves of the convention concerning workmen's compensation for occupational diseases (revised 1934), adopted by the International Labour Conference at its Eighteenth Session, a copy of which was laid on the Table of the Dáil on 7th May, 1935, and recommends the Executive Council to take the necessary steps for its ratification."

The International Convention concerning workmen's compensation for occupational diseases has already been ratified by the Saorstát. It was amended recently by the addition of certain forms of diseases to which the convention applies. Again, the law in the Saorstát is in conformity with the revised convention, and we are proposing to ratify the revised convention.

Has the revised convention been ratified by other countries?

It has been ratified by Austria, Brazil, Cuba, Great Britain, Hungary, Japan and Norway and it is about to be ratified by the Argentine, the Netherlands, Peru, Roumania, Sweden and Spain—I do not know which Government in Spain.

Question agreed to.
