asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state what further steps, if any, have been taken to promote the production and sale of hand-won turf and in what areas, if any, are hand-won turf sale schemes operating.

In addition to the general operations of the Turf Development Board directed to the production and sale of hand-won turf, substantial expenditure from relief funds has been incurred within the past year, on the recommendation of the board, on bog drainage, bog roads, etc., calculated to facilitate the production of hand-won turf. In addition compounds for storing and preparing hand-won turf for sale have been erected at points in Counties Kerry, Offaly, Leitrim, Galway, Clare, Westmeath and Mayo. Hand-won turf sales schemes are operating in the following counties:— Kerry, Clare, Kildare, Leix, Offaly, Leitrim, Sligo, Galway, Donegal, Roscommon, Tipperary, Mayo, Westmeath.
