Vol. 66 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment for Roscommon Holding

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that the Irish Land Commission acquired and took over a holding of land from John Ruane, Kilmurry, County Roscommon, over three years ago for £625; that Ruane paid £1,300 for that holding in 1925; that the Land Commission have not yet paid Ruane, and if he will now state the cause of delay in paying for that holding.

Mr. Boland

The delay in the allocation of the purchase money in this matter is not attributable to the Land Commission. The holding in question became vested in the Land Commission one year ago (not over three years ago as stated in the Deputy's question), and the solicitor for the owner was notified on the 25th June, 1936, to lodge with the Land Commission the documents in proof of the title to the purchase money. These documents were not lodged until the 10th February, 1937. The rulings on title were issued to the solicitor for the owner on the 6th instant, and it now only remains for him to discharge these rulings and take the other necessary steps to enable the purchase money to be paid out.
