Vol. 66 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relief of Congestion, Claremorris.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that acute congestion exists in the townland of Cloonlara, Bekan, Claremorris, on the Flatley estate; that a holding of land owned by the late Michael Harley has been set in grazing for the past ten years by T. J. Harley, U.S.A.; that the house thereon is in ruins; that several applications have been made by the holders of uneconomic holdings in the vicinity to the Irish Land Commission to have that holding acquired, and if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken to provide economic holdings for the tenants in the vicinity of that holding whose poor law valuations are under £10.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission have decided to take proceedings for the resumption of the holding mentioned in the question with a view to the relief of local congestion.
