asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether the Sligo County Council had made any advances since 1932 for the purposes of the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts to assist farmers in the erection of new dwelling-houses; and, if not, whether he is in a position to take any steps to ensure that the Sligo County Council make such advances.

No advances under the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts have been made by the Sligo County Council. The Acts empower local authorities to make advances to persons for the purpose of acquiring or erecting houses for their own occupation. I have no power to interfere with the discretion of the local authority with regard to the operation of the Acts.
