Vol. 68 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing in Clare.

Mr. Hogan

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state how many applications have been received to date by the County Clare Board of Health for houses under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Acts; how many have been completed to date; how many are in course of erection, and how many it is estimated will be completed during the current financial year.

I am informed by the Clare Board of Health that 1,359 applications have been received by them for housing accommodation. These include representations received from labourers living in urban districts and other persons who are considered to be ineligible for cottages under the Labourers Acts.

The number of houses completed to date by the Board is 291, and the number in course of erection is 99. I cannot state at present how many cottages are likely to be completed during the current financial year.
