Vol. 69 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New School in County Wexford.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state when it is proposed to proceed with the erection of a new school at Clohamon, County Wexford.

An application has been received from the manager for a grant for the erection of a new school at Clohamon, County Wexford, to replace the present Kingsland National School which is defective. The site which he proposes for the new school is regarded as reasonably satisfactory, but he is not yet in a position, so far as is known, to obtain clear possession. The erection of a new two-roomed schoolhouse has been approved but my Department cannot sanction a building grant until satisfactory evidence of title to the site is forthcoming.

In view of the fact that the condition of this school has been reported on periodically by the local medical officer within the last five years as being in a very bad state, will the Minister keep in touch with them with a view to having this matter settled?
