Vol. 69 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of County Carlow Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands whether repeated applications were made by the uneconomic holders in the district to have the estate of John Young, County Carlow, Record No. U.8640, acquired and distributed amongst them; whether he is aware of the fact that there are a large number of uneconomic holders and landless men concerned, and that they urgently need the use of the land which the division of this estate would make available to them, and if he will state when it is intended to acquire and distribute the estate, and at what stage the negotiations towards that end stand at the moment.

Mr. Boland

Applications have been received for the acquisition of the lands of Ballykilduff Upper containing 119 acres on the estate of the Reps. of John M. Young, and the Land Commission have decided to institute proceedings for the acquisition of these lands. It is not possible to state at this stage whether or when the lands will be acquired.
