Vol. 69 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Town Planning Act.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the names of the local authorities which have taken steps to put into effect the provisions of the Town Planning Act, what action he has taken to ensure that the Act will be enforced generally without undue delay, and whether it is his intention to seek additional powers for that purpose.

The following local authorities have adopted resolutions deciding to make a planning scheme for their respective areas: — Corporations of Clonmel, Drogheda, Dublin, Dún Laoghaire, Sligo and Wexford; the Urban District Councils of Arklow, Bray, Ennis, Galway, Howth, Killarney and Tralee, and the County Councils of the Counties of Dublin and Waterford.

With the object of assisting planning authorities in every possible way model clauses and provisions for insertion in planning schemes have been prepared by the Department. Steps are being taken to urge the local authorities that have passed resolutions to proceed as quickly as possible with the preparation of draft schemes. It is not proposed to seek compulsory powers for the enforcement of the Town and Regional Planning Act of 1934.
