Vol. 74 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rathcoursey, Midleton (County Cork) Protection Works.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that a number of fishing boats have been damaged by the recent gale at Rathcoursey, Midleton, County Cork, and if in response to repeated applications for a grant to provide the necessary protection and boat slip, he will provide assistance for such protection works to save future loss and disaster; also, if he is prepared to give a grant to replace the boats broken up and to repair those that are capable of being repaired.

I understand that some fishing boats at Rathcoursey have been damaged, as stated, during a recent storm, and I am sure that the Sea Fisheries Association would, subject to its rules, and to funds being available, accord favourable consideration to any application for the repair of damage so caused. I cannot recall having had a request for the provision of a boat slip at Rathcoursey. If, however, the Deputy will send me particulars by letter I will have the matter investigated.
