Written Answers. - County Council Expenditure.

Mr. Brennan

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state for each county council the ordinary expenditure for the year ended 31st March, 1939, or the last year for which information is available, in respect of (1) roads, (2) county services, (3) health district charges, (4) poor relief, (5) the total for such expenditure in each county, and (6) the total amount paid towards the abatement of rates on agricultural land.

A classified summary of the expenditure from revenue in the year 1937/38 of each county council will be found on pages 35 and 36 of the returns of local taxation for that year which will be published in a few days. The amount of the Agricultural Grant for each county will be found in the annual report of the Department for the year 1937/38, Appendix III, page 117.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state for each county council the ordinary expenditure for the year ended 31st March, 1932, in respect of (1) roads, (2) county services, (3) health district charges, (4) poor relief, (5) the total for such expenditure in each county, and (6) the total amount paid towards the abatement of rates on agricultural land.

A classified summary of the expenditure from revenue of each county council will be found on pages 35 and 36 of the returns of local taxation for year ended 31st March, 1932. A table showing amount of the Agricultural Grant for each county in the year 1931/32 will be sent to the Deputy.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the total amount received into the revenue account of each county council for the year ended 31st March, 1939, from (a) grants from local taxation account, Road Fund, etc.; (b) poor rate, (c) bounty in lieu of rates on State property, (d) urban districts on demand, (e) other local bodies, (f) recoupment of expenses of prosecutions and witnesses, and (g) other sources; and the total amount so received.

The returns of local taxation for the year 1938/39, including particulars of the revenue of county councils, will not be available for some time.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the total amount received into the revenue account of each county council for the year ended 31st March, 1938, from (a) grants from local taxation account, Road Fund, etc.; (b) poor rate, (c) bounty in lieu of rates on State property, (d) urban districts on demand, (e) other local bodies, (f) recoupment of expenses of prosecutions and witnesses, and (g) other sources; and the total amount so received.

The receipts from revenue of county councils in the year 1937/38 will be found on page 34 of the Returns of Local Taxation for that year.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state in respect of each county council and for the year ended 31st March, 1932, (1) the total expenditure from its revenue account, and (2) the total amount of money supplied to or expended on (a) boards of health, (b) boards of assistance, (c) committees of agriculture, (d) vocational education committees, (e) mental hospitals, (f) infirmaries and fever hospitals, (g) reformatories, etc., (h) library committees, and (j) other local authorities.

The information required so far as it is available will be found on pages 35 and 36 of the Returns of Local Taxation for the year 1931/32.

Mr. Brennan

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state in respect of each county council for the year ended 31st March, 1938, (1) the total expenditure from its revenue account, and (2) the total amount of money supplied or expended on (a) boards of health, (b) boards of assistance, (c) committees of agriculture, (d) vocational education committees, (e) mental hospitals, (f) infirmaries and fever hospitals, (g) reformatories, etc., (h) library committees, and (j) other local authorities.

The information required will be found in the Returns of Local Taxation for the year 1937/38, pages 35 and 36.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the net amount received (1) from rates and (2) other receipts, for local government purposes in the financial year 1937/38, excluding Government grants, amounts received by local bodies from one another, sums raised by way of loans, and receipts from gas undertakings, by each of the following bodies:— (a) county councils, (b) boards of health, (c) boards of assistance, (d) county borough councils, (e) urban district councils, (f) town commissioners, (g) mental hospital committees, (h) joint committee and fever hospital boards, (j) joint burial boards, (k) port sanitary authorities; and the gross total amounts so received.

The information required will be found in the Returns of Local Taxation for the year 1937/38, page 13.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the net amount received (1) from rates and (2) other receipts, for local government purposes in the financial year 1938-39, excluding Government grants, amounts received by local bodies from one another, sums raised by way of loans, and receipts from gas undertakings, by each of the following bodies:—(a) county councils, (b) boards of health, (c) boards of assistance, (d) county borough councils, (e) urban district councils, (f) town commissioners, (g) mental hospital committees, (h) joint committee and fever hospitals boards, (j) joint burial boards, (k) port sanitary authorities; and the gross total amounts so received.

Returns for local taxation for the year 1938-39 including net receipts of local bodies will not be available for some time.
