Vol. 76 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bridgetown Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware of the severe hardship imposed on the people of the Ballylibernagh and Tullabards Great districts, in the Bridgetown locality, by the absence of a proper water supply; and, if so, if he will instruct the official, whom he has promised to send with a view to cottage inspection in the county, also to investigate the necessity for a water supply in these districts.

The reply is in the negative. If the public water supply in this area is inadequate the question of providing a proper water supply would be a matter for the Wexford Board of Health and Public Assistance. It is understood that no application was received by that board in recent years for the provision of a water supply at Ballylibernagh. It is also understood that the board have decided not to provide a pump at Tullabards where there are only six families who derive their water supply from three private wells.

Arising out of the Parliamentary Secretary's reply. I should like to say that in the case of Ballylibernagh I myself made a report in regard to the absence of a proper water supply, so it is not right to say that no application has been received.
