asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the amount of the unemployment insurance net contribution income for the year ended 31st December, 1939, and the total estimated full-time employment for the year 1939 deduced therefrom.
Written Answers. - Unemployment Insurance.
The provisional figure for the unemployment insurance net contribution income in the calendar year 1939 is £960,156. Taking the average weekly unemployment insurance contribution as 17.33d. the estimated average number of persons employed in each week of 1939 in occupations insurable under the Unemployment Insurance Acts was 256,000.
The expressions "net contribution income" and "in each week" are used in the same sense as in the reply given to the Deputy's question on the 8th February, 1939.
