Vol. 78 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Import of Onions.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state when he proposes to remove the prohibition on the import of onions so that the present absence of onion supplies may be remedied.

I propose to take this matter into consideration at a very early date. I am informed that there are still available for purchase by traders considerable quantities of home-grown onions of good quality, particularly in the Castlegregory area of County Kerry.

There are some coming up from there now, but very few have been coming up for the last month.

A hundred tons came up yesterday.
