Vol. 79 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Oil Refinery at North Wall.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether there are any proposals before his Department which might lead to a resumption of work on the site of the proposed new oil refinery at North Wall, Dublin; whether he can hold out any hope that the refinery will operate in the near future; and, if so, whether he has taken steps, or will take steps, to see that its establishment will not endanger the employment of the staffs of existing distributing organisations.

Negotiations are proceeding which, it is hoped, will lead to the resumption of work on the proposed oil refinery at North Wall, Dublin, but I am not in a position at present to make any further statement on the subject. The matter referred to in the last part of the question is being kept in view.
