asked the Minister for Finance whether in view of the fact that there is little or no employment in the Gaeltacht areas in the spring, any provision will be made to allocate employment schemes to these areas to absorb the unemployed who as a result of the Employment Period Order have ceased to qualify for unemployment assistance.

Arrangements for the provision of employment schemes in the Gaeltacht and other areas in respect of the period March-June, 1940, were made in the ordinary way early in the current financial year. There has been no revision of these arrangements following the making of the Employment Period Order referred to in the question.
Persons disqualified for the receipt of unemployment assistance through the operation of the Employment Period Order are not ineligible for employment on schemes financed in whole or in part from State funds.
