Vol. 79 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Discharge of Volunteer.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that Volunteer Joseph Gorman (No. 204570) was discharged medically unfit in October, 1939, and, if so, if he will state the cause of the delay in issuing this man's discharge papers.

Volunteer Joseph Gorman was released from permanent service with the Forces on 26th October last and, pending discharge, he was allowed to proceed home in uniform as he was not in possession of civilian clothes. On the 13th December, Volunteer Gorman was discharged from the Volunteer Force medically unfit, but his certificate of discharge was retained by the military authorities pending the return by him of the articles of kit on charge to him. These articles have now been returned, and the certificate of discharge has been issued.
