asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Patrick McCarthy of Drimoleague, County Cork, lodged a claim for a military service pension, and was called to Dublin in November last for the purpose of giving oral evidence in support of his claim; and if he will state what the present position of the claim is and when a decision will be given.

An application for a service certificate under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1934, has been received from Mr. Patrick McCarthy, Drimoleague, County Cork. Mr. McCarthy was orally examined in connection with his claim in November last. The referee has not yet reported to me in the case and I am not in a position to state when a decision may be reached.
